Indian Summer in Minnesota

We are getting our last taste of summer in the middle of November this year in the Twin Cities.

Me, a Lake, a Sunset, and My Camera

For perhaps the last nice day this year for photographing fall colors, I visited a lake close to home.

Visiting Fort Snelling State Park

Photos from my first visit to Fort Snelling, which was at peak for fall colors.

Panoramic Views at Sibley State Park

The relatively long drive through rural Minnesota to get to this state park was well worth it.

Dizzy Fall, 2008

“Maybe the best student I’ve had… [Nicholas] write[s] extremely well.”
—Sid Bedingfield, journalism professor, former CNN executive, and father of Kate Bedingfield

While my peers in high school were out having fun, I was inside poring over The Chicago Manual of Style and books on English usage. By not only reading Newsweek cover-to-cover each week but also perusing the grammar, punctuation, and style, I was able to get 74 out of 75 questions correct on the English section of the ACT the first time I took the exam.

I attended Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, for a few years as a literature major, though I left without graduating. In the fall of 2019, I finished my studies at the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities, graduating with a B.A. in English.
